Title: Implementation of Lattice Boltzmann Method for Solving Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics Problems
Abstract:
Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is a powerful method to solve the fluid and heat transfer problems. In this research, firstly, the LBM was used by to simulate the different types of nanofluid flow and heat transfer for single-phase nanofluid model. The effects of nanoparticle volume fraction, Rayleigh number, Reynolds number and the geometry parameters on the fluid pattern, temperature distribution and rate of heat transfer were studied. The results showed that the single-phase is practicable for the nanofluid with low volume fraction. The heat transfer rate of the system always increases as increasing the nanoparticle volume fraction, Rayleigh number and Reynolds number regardless of the system geometry. The system geometry significantly affects the flow pattern and heat transfer performance. Moreover, the effect of magnetic field on the nanofluid heat transfer was also investigated. The average Nusselt number increases by increasing the Hartmann number. Secondly, the hybrid LBM-TVD scheme was used to solve the two-phase nanofluid governing equations to study the distribution of nanoparticles. It can be obtained that the nanoparticle volume fraction adjacent to the hot walls is higher than that around the cold walls. In the future, Simplified and Highly Stable LBM (SHSLBM) will be used by us to solve the nanofluid heat transfer at high Rayleigh numbers, which has widely applications in the engineering.
